I combined found images and personal photos to create a series of landscape environments. I began the process by digitally collaging a series of six environments with different perspectives. I printed multiple copies of each environment and used the duplicates as the majority of my physical collaging material. I used other material such as: paint, magazines, vintage photos, flowers, and glaze. I wanted the piece to have a reflective quality and a connection between the different environments. The images can be reflections of each other; one looking in from the outside, and the other looking out from the inside.

I used processing to generate a random overlay of multiple southwestern patterns and tints.

I cut/pasted, duplicated, and layered the patterns to create the forms and objects. I wanted to create a modern day cartoushe hieroglyph depicting religious iconography and symbolism. I used symbolism from Native America, Egyptian, Indian, Aztec, Judea-Christo cultures and religions.

I created this device to investigate the behavior of spiders. I am specifically interested in web building and creating a conducive environment to capture this behavior. I feel spiders have a bad reputation. My personal fear and intrigue of spiders has lead me to creating this observation device. I would like to enlightened those who fear and are repulsed by these creatures to their truly beautiful and artistic nature. My personal fear and intrigue of spiders has lead me to creating this observation device. I would like those who normally are disgusted by spiders, to recognize that spiders are multi-faceted and conscious insects.
